Michelle Driver is an artist and handweaver based in Adelaide, South Australia.
Using the technique of hand woven tapestry, Michelle’s work has been described as ‘dark’ and ‘gothic’, inspired by x-rays, the occult, and sinister vintage illustrations.
Michelle aims to create work that is quiet, but unsettling. She won the Port Pirie Art Prize in 2016, and has been a finalist in the Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize 2018 (highly commended), the Whyalla Art Prize, amongst others.
“I’m not interested in fitting in, or appealing to a mass audience. My work is unconventional, and appeals to those who are fascinated by the sinister and strange.”
