Panic Weaving?
OK, this is an update post!
It's that weird 'in between' time here in the Studio - I don't have any markets coming up (I decided not to apply for Bowerbird this year - but that's another post!), and I have a solo exhibition coming up in September.
So I am weaving handwoven scarves mainly for my stockists, and to keep the shop well stocked, as well as making candles mainly for Fleurieu Arthouse, as they sell well there!
On my tapestry loom at home is a LARGE tapestry in the Road Trip series - this one is the Rocking Horse in Gumeracha! 🎠
The issue is this: I need this loom to make a large work for my upcoming exhibition - but this tapestry has been on this loom for a LONG time! So I had to make a decision: either cut it off and abandon it, or finish it and get it off the loom.
As you can see, I chose the latter! I did a bit of a spreadsheet to calculate how long it would take me to finish.
I was NEARLY spot on - my calculations said 18 March - I think I'll finish by the 22nd!
I'm so glad I decided to finish this - I love it, it turned out better than expected 😎
After I cut this one off, I'll start a new piece for my exhibition - more on that later!
